I was born and raised in southern California by my single mom. My father died when I was the age of ten. In 2003 my husband and I, along with our son and daughter, moved to Roseburg, Oregon.
I started my journey in creativity as a writer, writing poetry, songs and short stories, since the age of five. I have written over 500 poems in my lifetime. Writing is still a love of mine, but I never felt completely creatively fulfilled. It wasn’t until meeting my soul mate (my husband, Steven) that I realized I could paint. He inspired and encouraged me to use painting as an outlet for my intense passion that permeates all areas of my life. Steven was the first man to really love me and completely accept me for who I am. His love reflected that of God’s love for me. (Philipians 1:6) I felt free to grow in all areas and especially in my artistic expression. When I began to truly find my style was when I began to pray that God would express Himself through me. To echo William Blake, I too realize anything good that comes from me is from the Holy Spirit at work in me. (John 15:5) Apart from God I can do nothing. I was not groomed or encouraged as an artist from childhood, so I can only attribute any artistic ability to God. There are many times I will finish a painting and step back in amazement at what God has accomplished, because I can not understand how it came to be. I can not reproduce. Each painting is unique and impossible to duplicate. Just like God’s creation all around us. He creates the art for me and in me. I am His forever evolving work of art. (Acts 17:28, Philipians 4:13)
